Community Food Rescue - Food Runners

Community Food Rescue, an initiative to alleviate hunger, needs volunteer food runners. You will help feed people facing food insecurity instead of filling the landfill. In Montgomery County, 23 percent of all solid waste is food waste and 79,000-81,000 (8 percent) of residents do not know where their next meal will come from. Your help in transporting food donations will help achieve the County’s recycling goal of 70 percent by 2020. Volunteers will learn about safe food handling and transportation practices in CFR’s Food Safety Guidelines. Volunteer food runners will be given the location of pick up and drop off in each requested food run.For more information, see: http://communityfoodrescue.org/our-mission/volunteer-food-runners/.  Volunteers must be licensed and insured drivers.
